Angels lose 3-2 for the third time

by JJ Glover on June 12th

It's become apparent that the Angels are playing against the best at the level, and despite the lack of wins, the team has been playing competitively. A couple of breaks go differently and perhaps the Angels are at the top of the level instead of being winless.

The Cactuses represent a third tough matchup, possibly the most difficult of the three games so far. But the Angels start the first period as the dominant team, owning most of the scoring chances. It would take 14 minutes before the first goal of the game as T. Olson puts the puck past M. Gottsch. This represents the first time this season that the Cactuses find themselves behind in a game.

It wouldn't take long in the second period for the Cactuses to respond. 33 seconds into the period and J. LaVigne takes a faceoff pass and puts it past J. Glover to tie the game. The Angels would get the lead back midway through the period as T. Croat gets the second goal for the Angels.

With 4 minutes left in the period, the Cactuses get some sustained offense with R. Mueffelmann burying a rebound to tie the game. 19 seconds later J. LaVigne gets his second goal of the game on another rebound to give the Cactuses their first lead of the game. It's a lead they would not relinquished for the rest of the game.

The third period would see neither team find the back of the net despite 6 power plays opportunities. The game would end in a 3-2 win for the Cactuses, making it the third game in a row that the Angels would lose 3-2.

The Angels will be looking for their first win on Sunday against the Timberwolfs.
