Bulldogs Hold On Against Troopers, One Step Closer to Postseason

by JJ Glover on March 6th

The Bulldogs find themselves above the pack in the postseason hunt, but with 7 teams vying for 5 spots, a win here would make the rest of the season much easier.

The Bulldogs got to work in the first, taking the lead on the shot from Ed Soler 7 minutes into the game. This lead would hold for the rest of the period despite the Troopers getting more quality chances.

The second period is where the Bulldogs turned it on with goals from LaTour, Miller and Chanthavongsa. The Troopers would get their first goal with 5 minutes left in the second, but the period would end at 4-1. Hillstead would tack on an insurance goal early in the third to make it 5-1. But from here the Bulldogs would need all of the insurance they could get.

The Troopers rally started just a minute after with a goal from J. Chamberlin. 5 minutes later, the Troopers would reduce the lead to 2 on a goal from S. Anderson. R. Perera brings the Troopers to within one with 4 and a half minutes remaining in the game.

The furious Troopers comeback would not be enough, however, as the Bulldogs hang on to win 5-4. The win with a Fighting Loons loss means the team is leading the division. This puts the team in position to clinch a playoff berth next week with a win against the Sled Dogs.
