The Bulldogs continued their great start to the 2021-22 in their third game. The Rebellion tried like the Sharks to jump out to an early lead. There were several good chances in the early minutes but of the 8 first period shots, none made it past the goal line.
However, after that initial rush, the Bulldogs took command of the game and never relinquished it. Before the end of the first period, E. Nutter and J. Henderson were able to stake the Bulldogs to a 2-0 lead. Halfway through the second period, the Bulldogs were able to add on with goals from T. Chanthavongsa and S. Swanson. Many more chances came close, but Rebellion goalie T. Price made several diving stops to keep the score relatively close. The offense for the Rebellion were never able to sustain pressure to get the game back under control. In the third period, one last insurance goal from J. Rogers gave the Bulldogs a 5-0 lead that held for the rest of the game.
This was the 9th career shutout for J. Glover, who stopped all 19 shots faced. For the Bulldogs, it is the first time the team has started undefeated after three games in at least 10 years. However, the first three opponents have combined for one victory at this early stage of the season. On Sunday, the Bulldogs play the 2-1 Fighting Piranhas and should provide a good barometer on how good this Bulldogs team is.
