Its been a see-saw season with close calls. Each definitive win and terrible loss seems to indicate a new direction for the team, only for the reverse to be true the next game.
For the game against Spitfires, the only constant for the Bulldogs is a short bench.
In the first period, the game started out strong for the Bulldogs. J. Zalesky would be the first to break the ice just one minute into the period.
However, it was pretty clear that the extra players for the Spitfires were going to generate more chances. It translated into the next three goals from T. Vixayvong, E. Lorenz, and S. Longen. When the first period came to an end, the Spitfires were up 3-1 and with the 15-7 shots advantage.
The second period provided a second wind for the Bulldogs. The next two goals would belong to Ed Soler and J. Zalensky as the team would tie the game back up at 3 in the span of a minute half way through the second period. However, C. Remick of the Spitfires quickly restored the lead for the Spitfires, and the second period would end 4-3.
In the third period, the Bulldogs had good chances, but the Spitfires would have the last two goals in the game as B. Geisler and J. Basile buried the Bulldogs hopes of a comeback.
The Bulldogs will continue their up and down season on Jan. 25th against the top team in the league, the Sharks.
