A high point for the Bulldogs with a 7-5 win over the Sharks

by JJ Glover on February 6th
It was going to be a very short bench this game and the Bulldogs were playing against a top tier team in the Sharks. It was a tough loss against the Spitfires with a short bench and the team looked like it was in for another rough 51 minutes. In the first period, it looked like another long game for the Bulldogs as the Sharks would get the first two goals, both on the powerplay. The Sharks would finish with a 10-8 advantage in shots and a 2-0 lead. But the second period saw a turnaround for the 7 players on the Bulldogs side. Both teams had many more offensive opportunities, but the Bulldogs had more opportunities, finishing with a 22-15 shot lead to finish the period. Both teams would get goals, as J. Zalesky would score the first for the Bulldogs, his third game in a row with a goal. T. Promersberger would ensure the Sharks lead would remain at 2 by the end of the second. The Bulldogs kept up the pressure in the third and finally was rewarded. The Bulldogs got started early as K. Gardner and J. Andersen scored within 30 seconds of each other to tie the game up at 3. T. Promersberger would restore the Sharks lead just 30 seconds later. 5 minutes afterwards, Ed Soler would bring the Bulldogs back to tied at 4. 2 minutes later, the rollercoaster ride gave the Sharks back the lead with a goal from E. Wolff. But from here on out, it was all Bulldogs. Ed Solar scores his second goal of the game to tie the game back up. E. Furlich followed up to give the Bulldogs their first lead with just 4 minutes left in the game. K. Gardner also added his second goal and an insurance goal with a minute left to seal the game at 7-5. The win was a big affirmation that the Bulldogs can compete with the top of the division. Its going to be tough to climb back into the playoff race, but a string of wins could be exactly what the team needs.
