The Bulldogs are hoping or an offensive awakening at some point just to break up the 5 game streak of 1-goal decisions to start the 2019-20 season. The shot differential needs to reverse direction soon in order to start turning those 1-goal losses into ties and wins.
In the game against the Fighting Loons, both teams were trading shots and chances with each other as both teams stayed within a shot of each other from period to period.
The game started off great for the Bulldogs as Andy McCann took a feed in the slot from A. Miller and blasted it past Orbidan to give the team a 1-0 lead. Offensive chances for both teams were few and far between in the first.
That changed in the second as both teams doubled their shots. However, both Orbidan and Glover were standing tall in their respective creases. The Bulldogs offense were circling the net, while the Fighting Loons were finding most of their shots coming from odd-man rushes. Neither strategy was able to change the score in the second.
The third period looked to be more of the same, with a system being run for the Bulldogs, and more rushes coming from the Fighting Loons. With 9 minutes remaining in the game, the Fighting Loons were able to win the puck in the corner and one-time a shot from Sheehan that just brushes past the glove and finds the twine to give the Loons a tie.
That would be the last mistake either goalie would give up through overtime as the game ends 1-1. With 15 games left, the Bulldogs find themselves 3 points out of a playoff spot. Although the results against top teams are encouraging, the team is hoping to start a run of wins at some point rather than relying on a second half surge that starts 2 games too late.
