Another Close Game, Another Win

by JJ Glover on June 12th
Unlike Game 1 which had some clear back and forth between the two teams, the Lumberjacks matchup against Warriors was a coin flip until the very end. Offensive chances were few a far between in the first period as both teams were content to probing for mistakes. Both sides would end up with 7 shots but A. Bowes would start the scoring for the Lumberjacks with 3 minutes to go. The Warriors K. Raff would equalize at 1 early in the second off a misplay in front of the net by J. Glover. The Lumberjacks would retake the lead again off a tic-tac-toe setup that E. Parker finishes with 3 minutes left in the period. However, just before the end of the second period, P. Aas fires a one-timer into the back of the net from a feed by J. Sendar to knot the game at 2. A tightly contested third period gave everyone the impression that this was going to be another game headed to overtime until a shot by J. Romo with 6 minutes left beats A. Saunders to give the Lumberjacks a 3-2 advantage. The Warriors would threaten late with a powerplay with 2 minutes to go in the game, but instead T. Le and S. Cloutier would add shorthanded empty net goals to seal the game at 5-3. With a 2-0 start, the Lumberjacks move on to Braemar to take on the 0-2 Prowlers on June 18th at 8:45.
