Its that time of year where perfect weather forces everyone to play hockey indoors!
For the Muckers and Ice Sweepers both, there was some rust to work off as both teams. The Ice Sweepers started with 8 shots while the Muckers only generated 6 shots with two penalties. Neither team was able to break through to score the first goal in the summer session.
The honor of the first goal would fall to M. Schultz of the Ice Sweepers, scoring 8 minutes into the second period, and it would open the flood gates from there.
The Muckers would respond with two goals of their own. M. Easthouse would score just 30 seconds after the Ice Sweepers to bring the game back to level. Gellner would then give the Muckers their first lead of the season.
This wouldn't last as the Ice Sweeper's M. Kieley would put the puck in the back of the net with 2:48 left in the period. The period would end with both teams tied 2-2.
In the third, the Muckers would find another gear, taking 14 shots compared to the Ice Sweepers' 4. Taking advantage of the powerplay, M. Protas would end up scoring the game winning goal with 10 minutes left in the game. J. Anderson would add a follow-up goal 5 minutes later. The game would end with the Muckers taking the win 4-2.
Next week, the Muckers take on the Suck Holes in Richfield.
