Bulldogs end 3-game losing streak against the Lakers

by JJ Glover on January 19th
It was a tough 3 game road trip for the Bulldogs in late December. The team was only able to muster 3 goals while allowing 12. Particularly tough was a 3-2 loss against Shame On Ice with a short bench. It was looking like another loss early in the game against the Lakers. The Bulldogs were on their heels early and the Lakers generated several quality chances early. They would open the scoring with a two-on-one break that Mueffelmann capitalizes on. By the end of the first, the Bulldogs would get the offense rolling. Furlich ties the game with 10 seconds left in the period and Jeren finds the back of the net in the second to give the Bulldogs their first lead since December 15th. The Laker's Trongard would tie the game halfway through the second after a miscue in the defensive zone. #11 would take the game over for the Bulldogs at this point. Hillstead scores with 5 minutes left in the second to give the Bulldogs a lead. He would follow that effort up 30 second into the third to give the Bulldogs a two goal lead. The Sorock would bring the Lakers to within one in the third. The Lakers would have several quality chances in the final minutes to attempt to tie the game, but the defense would hold the 4-3 lead for a final. The Bulldogs look to take some points away from some top teams to make a second half run, starting the Fighting Piranhas C1 on Sunday in New Hope.
