There's a team chemistry factor in every hockey team that takes time to build. The new free agent acquisitions on the Bulldogs are still working on it.
Meanwhile, the Royals have had a consistent team for several years now and it showed during the first and third periods. The Royals were able to outshoot the Bulldogs 16-4 in the opening frame and 17-3 in the closing frame, scoring 4 times in that span.
In the first, the goals came from D. Pfingsten off a rebound from the new Bulldogs goaltender early on and a shorthanded goal late in the period off of a breakaway.
Throughout the second period the Bulldogs seemed to regroup. In their best period, the first goal of the season went to S. Swanson early on to reduce the Royals lead to 2-1. The game went back and forth at this point and the shots were 13-12 in the period. However, Royals K. Rabine would beat JJ Glover with a redirected shot with 3 minutes left to restore their 2 goal lead.
The third period saw a repeat of the first, with Ennegna scoring a second shorthanded breakaway goal and Pfingsten finishing what he started with an insurance goal of his own. The game would end 5-1 with a 45-20 shot differential in favor of the Royals.
The Bulldogs will look for their first win against the 1-0 Lakers on Sunday, November 4th at SLP.
