The Sting are looking to get back into the playoffs for the fourth year in a row as they kick off the Winter campaign against the Avengers. Its the Avengers who strike first, however. On their very first shot of the season, Archibald makes a wide rush towards the net and puts an odd angle shot just inside the far post and makes it a 1-0 game just a minute and 20 seconds into the game. However, the Sting are the next to get their offense rolling. Some combinations plays lead to two goals in quick succession four minutes later as Aaron Clotts and Jeren Anderson add goals of their own. The first ends with a Sting lead of 2-1. In the second period, it was all Avengers. Sorensen ties the game 2-2 with a redirected shot and Wick puts the Avengers back into the lead four minutes later. Just before closing out the period, Archibald adds his second goal of the game to make it 4-2. However, the Sting weren't done yet. They rebound in the third period with goals from Ed Soler and Gary Hawley to tie the game at 4-4 halfway through the third. And that's how the score stayed through the end of regulation and overtime.
