The Sting are starting the season with a 3 game winless streak. For eight straight periods, the Sting have been out shot and this game has had the biggest discrepancy so far with a 2-to-1 differential.
The Mastodons opened the scoring with goals from T. Le and T. McLaughlin to make it 2-0 halfway in the first, converting on 2 of their 19 shots. The Sting made the most of their 7 shots with Todd Chrun scoring back-to-back goals while shorthanded. Despite the 2:1 shot advantage for the Mastodons, the game stayed 2-2 in the first.
But the Mastodons would keep up the offensive pressure in the second period with another 11-3 shot advantage. E. Parker and M. Marshall were able to put shots past C. Guarneri to make it 4-2 by the end of the period.
In the third, the Sting were able to generate some offensive pressure and with 3:40 left in the game, Ed Soler was able to bring the Sting to within one of the Mastodons. However, an empty net goal with 22 seconds left sealed the fate of the Sting.
What's next?
